Conical Tanks

Oilybits Supply a vast range of conical bottomed tanks, from 60 Litres, to 17,000 Litres capacity. Some tanks are available with welded steel stands.

The conical tanks we sell are rotationally moulded in the U.K. from Food Grade, Virgin Polyethylene also known as LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene). The conical tanks are not available in HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), because although the raw material is identical, the 'High Density' is only achieved by Injection Moulding, or Blow Moulding at high pressures, which is not the way these tanks are produced. Conical tanks are 'rotationally moulded' at atmospheric pressure to coat the inside of the mould in liquid Polyethylene evenly, forming the cavity in the middle.

Due to Polyethylenes high resistance to aggressive chemical compounds, our tanks are widely used by brewers / breweries to produce cider, wine and beer, as well as by chemical or biodiesel manufacturers. LDPE is an inert material and will not contaminate product with bad taste or odour, it is also non-porous so it can be easily cleaned and sterilised.

Some Conical Tanks can be fitted with side-ports for an additional charge, should brewers want to draw product off, above the lees.
